Legend has it that John Henry (steel-driving man) challenged a machine that could do the work of several men much faster and efficiently. John Henry won but died of exhaustion minutes later. This is how I imagine John Henry if he had survived. But, as with many laborers who built this country, most still do, even in their later years.
